This painting was a fun experiment in impulse for me - I improvised and allowed my impulse and my palette knife to throw, spread and guide paint as I saw fit on a smooth canvas that I covered with an untextured layer of paint first.
I joyfully let go and painted this canvas in a horizontal orientation. Once done, I flipped it and looked at the image from all angles, until I realised I had painted something I did not intend to - a blue head, with white hair, smoking a black pipe. the impulse unknowingly made this image and I was thrilled.
